This work is a study of one of Berthe Morisot’s paintings, “The Psyche Mirror”. Although I made this with watercolors instead of oil paints, I think I learned a lot with this study. Morisot is a French impressionist artist that I admire, especially because of the delicate way she paints all her subjects. She mostly painted women in their private times and captured perfectly the fleeting moments.
For me this piece was quite a challenge because I couldn’t get the exact feeling she conveyed. It took me multiple tries to get the result I wanted yet I still think that I couldn’t quite capture the same essence she was able to bring to her painting.
